I don't think that candytuft can be propagated by leaf cuttings.

I think you're right. I read in a garden book it could, but have not found that info anywhere else now. I think the book was plain wrong. I've started them from cuttings and they are looking good so far.

Reviving this from the depths..

I took candytuft cuttings about a month ago, applied rooting hormone and stuck them and covered them with a clear plastic container like the propagation chambers discussed here. They still look great and I thought there must be roots.. I dug one up with a fork tonight and no roots. It's taking a long time for me, but I won't pull them unless they die. I guess it's just taking long time for them to get started.

You did dig this up from the bottom. The ones I tried last year ended up dying. They looked great for a few weeks though.

Oh no sunnytop.. mine still look great, but no roots. Hope they don't have the same fate.
