How long does it take to root a Schefflera cutting?

I have cut two separate cuttings one is the stem coming off the trunky part (sorry im very new at this) and the other is actually the trunky part with stems on it, I have dipped both in rooting powder and planted them in with the other schefflera plants.

Firstly I am wondering how long it may take for these to grow roots and start sprouting new stems?

Secondly I am worried I may have killed the trunky part I took the cutting off as I left no stems on it? I did these yesterday, is there anything I need to do?

takes 20-50 days to root... The cutting that is the trunk I usuall lay it in its side & cover 1/2 the stem with soil. There are nodes & buds along the stem I try to arrange it so most of these buds are at or above the soil
