Propagation from branch cuttings is videly practiced for plant propagation.Some plants are propagated from leaf cuttings also.As a gardener interested in propagation from cuttings etc. I tried to propagate the sweet potatoe from it's leaf cutting. Few leaves from the vine along with the petioles were removed using sharp blade. Petoles of these leaves were planted in the pot containg Miracle grow potting soil.This was done in the first week of July.Pic #1 shows the petioles planted in the pot.Yesterday I dug out one of the leaf to see if the petiole was rooted.To my surprise not only the petople was rooted but also it had grown a small tuber. Pic. #2 shows the rooted petiole with small tuber.
