I want to use tip layering method on weigela and dogwood.
Is this a good time or should I wait until september.
Also if root hormone will be necessary for this method.
Thanks,
-lg

The sooner the better. Layering requires time for roots to form, much longer than from cuttings for the plants you are working with. Al

you can do layering any time just make sure you water it more often.
Hormone may be necessary if you want to root cuttings.
As Al mentioned - rooting weigela from cutting is much easier and faster to root.
