I am crossing hostas and I need to label each flower so I can keep track of what the pollen parent is, are there any small water proof labels for this?

jewelers tags have been used for years .... you use codes instead of trying to write a lot of info on the tag ....

e.g. .... mom is 1 ... crosses would be 1 X 2 ... two being the pollen parent ... then 1 X 3 ... etc ... i guess you may as well buy a notebook while you are at the office supply ... lol

I cut up mini-blinds for tags for cuttings, plants, seeds, whatever.

You can make many dozen from one mini-blind, and use a #2 lead pencil to mark on it. The pencil will never fade, will not rub off, won't wash off, or smudge, but you can erase it and re-use it.

I use a hole punch to make a hole in it, and one in my pot, so I can keep it a bit more permanent. Just remember to move the tag when you bump the plant.

Good luck!
