cut root into 2 inch sections. apply rooting hormone to root & then cover with 1/4 inch soil... time to formation of plants depends on soil temp , light etc....

Well, well, well, I'm doing the happy dance this morning. I see several green growths of baby Stokes Aster 'Peachey's Pick' coming up through the growing medium! I can't tell you how excited I am to have success using this method of plant propagation. Another new gardening experience for me.

Just wanted to let everyone know this method can work well. It's taken almost exactly a month for this particular plant's root cuttings to show green growth. I left the pot outside on the deck, where it's had very warm days and recently, nights around the low 60's. The growing pot has received only a tiny bit of direct sunlight early afternoon, remainder of the day in high shade. Also helped maintain a damp growing medium by using a light covering of Perlite over the entire surface of the pot (where plant babies are now poking through. :-)
