Cuttings from monarda/bee balm

I'm trying to clean up my flowerbeds since the heavy rains/winds from Hurricane Irene last weekend. It rained about night before last. There was 1 in. in rain gauge when I got up yesterday morning. I see I have some new bee balm seedlings nearby the original plant. Has anybody had luck rooting cuttings of bee balm in water? I thought I'd try it to see if it would work and if I saw successful roots showing, I'd plant it up in a pot till it gets a good start.

Have a lady coming to pick up some plants this afternoon that I am offering here. With her coming after them, it will save me dragging them to plant swap and she will have less to drag home from there.

California poppies(the yellow/gold variety)I think they are an annual that reseeds? So I should just leave them where they are now during the Fall and winter?
