Has anyone had any success starting elaeagnus x. ebbingei shrubs from cuttings?

I have tried several times, but have produced no viable rootings.

Here has been my procedure:

1) Take 4 inch cutting from soft, fresh shoots of established ebbingei plant. Cutting pattern is a sharp angle.

2) Coat cut area with cloning solution.

3) Place cutting in moist rockwool cube.

4) Mist cutting lightly over several days.

They all end up becoming limp and dying. Any ideas?
