Curly Willow Cutting - Overwinter

Hello;

I just brought some curly willow cuttings inside to root, I've had a little trouble getting them to grow substantial roots just in aerated water outside. ( I have some in perlite outside as well, but they have not shown anything more than little nubs yet, I've kept them wet, I think it has just been too cool to stimulate root growth) I'm pretty sure they will grow some roots with the extra warmth inside.

Inside, I have them in a pot with a fairly heavy / water retentive mix that has vermiculite in it with some turface and a little perlite. I stripped off most of the outer layer of bark and treated them with RootTech cloning gel hormones.

My question is: Can the cuttings / new trees can survive skipping dormancy this year, as it will likely be a month before they get substantial roots, and maybe they would start to push out some new leaves by some time in November. It will be way to late to just put them outside.

Will they do okay for one winter kept inside and then planted in spring?

Thanks

Jamie
