There are several different begonias. Your posting does not give a planting zone so I will guess you are in my zone and have tuberous begonias. They will go dormant in the winter and can be stored in a cool dark place with good air circulation. When the weather warms in the spring bring them into the house where you can watch them. Keep the cupped side up and buds will appear on the top sooner or later. When you see the buds growing plant the tuber so the buds are just covered in a fast draining potting soil. Set the pot in a pan of water about two inches deep and let the mix soak up the water. When the mix is wet take the pot out of the water and keep in a warm place out of direct sunlight. Do not water again until the mix is pretty dry or you will cause the tuber to rot. When you do water use a weak fertilizer dissolved in the water. These will do well in shady areas, usually on the north side of the house. Al

to calitoga--so what do you think the miniature leaves are that just started growing now in September? There are several growths--will they each be stems next year? It seems like too many. Are they suppose to be divided? Thanks

If you would give more information when you post, the chance of your getting good information would also increase. Are these tuberose begonias planted in a container? What is your gardening zone? You can not divide a begonia tuber if that is what you have. If your tuber is just now growing leaves it will need more time than you have to feed the tuber before cold weather arrives in what ever zone you may be in. Take the container into a well lighted area of your house to extend the growing season as much as possible. Be careful to not over water and cause the tuber to rot. Al
