I tried rooting Magnolia grandiflora cuttings under a poly tent. The first year they rooted good but now they all rot. What am I doing wrong?

The question is what did you do differently the 2nd time.... ? Any way use cuttings of firm NEW growth. 6-9 inches & wound the cutting.... apply 0.8% IBA rooting hormone. stick in well drained soil & mist (keep humidy high around the cuttings BUT maintain air circulation).. takes 35-90 days to root.

i have a huge magnolia with a few offspring, that includes roots and all, if anyone is interested let me know, will trade for about anything, especially if it blooms.

I have a dwarf magnolia "Bubblegum" I want to propagate - eventually as a bonsai. Can anyone tell me what part of the tree I need to take as a cutting and at what time of year I need to take it, and any other information I need to get it to grow roots?
