HELP new kitty broke my plant

Hello... I am beside myself and ready to rehome a kitty...

I had a stunning Plant I believe to be of the Dracaena family. very thin long trunk and thin long leaves that grew mostly at the top of the plant. the leaves are attatched at different heights.. not all from one place.

OUR new kitty jumped off the couch to the top of this plant..and snapped the top half clean off!! Is there anything that can be done to save this plant?? I have put the top portion in a vase of a water..? IS it possible to root this plant. Will the trunk and roots grow new leaves? Please any advice would be awesome. I have had this plant for 9 years. thank you in advance for any help.

often the trunk will grow new leaves. also try cutting the trunk back & allow to air dry then take the piece of trunk lay on side & cover 1/2 with soil. as for the tip allow to air dry then apply 0.1% IBA (Rooting hormone) stick in well drained soil & mist. will form new roots.

draceana are quite easy to root so just pop the broken off top into a pot of propogating mix or even just potting mix but watch the water and grow it on.
