Frozen Mums

oregonwoodsmoke

Well, guys, wish me luck.

A local store had several dozen mum plants badly damaged by frost and they were throwing them away.

It's not been that cold (high 20's), and we've had rain, so the roots weren't dried out. So I asked for them.

The plants look frozen, but they look exactly like my own mums that are planted in the ground. Mine always come back in the spring, bigger each year.

Roots on these guys look fine, so I am going to plant them all and cross my fingers and hope I've got dozens of new mums in my bee garden next spring.

Driving around all day with dozens of dead mum plants, my van smelled like a funeral parlor. Gack.
