I would put it in a pot with soil. Soil roots are much stronger than water roots. You might be able to make several cuttings from it, if each cutting has a leaf. I wouldn't try to root just one cutting that long. Each cutting should only be about six to twelve inches long. What kind of philodendron is it?

i use water.. but as soon as i see 1/8 inch root nodes.. i move it to damp media and cover with a plastic bag ...

i want to know when the roots start.. but water roots are near useless once put into media ...
