philodendron- Stem clipping in water or soil??

What is the best and easiest way to propagate a philonderon? I had a large 2-3 foot vine break off. I would like to try and save it. I have read about sticking the stem in water and I have read about dipping the steam in rooting powder and sticking it in moist rich soil. Right now I cut it at a node (at least I think I did, I cut it at an angle right were a leaf was) and stuck it in water until I can figure out what to do. Please help, I have had the plant for two years now which I got from my grandmothers memorial so it has sentimental value!

I wanted to post a picture I took to ask where I cut the stem, how do I post a picture? (I am new here). I will try to add a link

Here is a link that might be useful: Stem_Cutting
