how to grow an old apple variety from a branch cutting

parcival

I saw an old full-stem (25+ foot high and main trunk was several feet thick) apple tree in an old abandoned orchard. It still had apples on it. I got some, but some person came by and told me to get a branch instead for growing and broke some off from the trunk. To put it in moist/wet and warm ground for a while so it will grow roots. I tasted the apples and they were amazing, nothing like any of the new varieties, like an after flavor of rose perfume. So I'm fully determined to grow this apple tree. What do I do with the branch "cuttings" (which are more ripped off branches, nor more than half an inch thick).

Should I stick the branches into water or wet earth? Please help me grow this very old apple.
