Maniettia inflata is a tropical vine & therefore will not "come back" next year. I can only sugggest you try some cuttings in water (change the water every 1-2 days) But also would try using 0.4% and 0.8% IBA (rooting hormone) use some hard wood and semihard wood and wound the cutting. Would also use bottom heat to get soil temp in the 70'sF
In other words you will have to try several methods & then PLEASE report on the results of your work

I'll let you know what happens. I gave some cuttings to my mother about a month ago, and she said she put them in water, kept water clean, and they developed roots after two weeks! She's since planted the vine cuttings in pots a week ago, and they're still thriving and climbing in a sunny window. I'll try it myself and see how it turns out and let you know. Hope it's that easy, because I'm familiar with the root hormones and water propegation but wouldn't know HOW TO BEGIN working with the wood on the cuttings. Thanks for your help and suggestion!

By all means take cuttings for insurance, but here in Z8 N.La the vine certainly returns every year. I would mulch very well and you might be surprised next year- it's a very tough plant and the hummingbirds love it.
