Has anyone ever started Tacca chantrieri, the black Bat Plant from seed?

I've bought seed from T&M twice, tried for six months each time.

Does it take longer than that? Any secrets or tips?

I think it's easier to just buy a plant. I've managed to germinate a couple seeds and that took about 8 months with bottom heat. Unfortunately the seedlings died soon after emerging.
