I just ordered for the first time from Laurie at Shadowood. Actually, I ordered back in the spring, with the understanding that she would not know for sure what she had until time to dig at the beginning of July. Apparently the winter weather, with repeated freezes and thaws, was devastating to her gardens this year, and she emailed me progress reports a couple of times. When it came time to dig, she suggested substitutes for the irises that hadn't made it through the winter, and cheerfully refunded my money for the ones that were unique and for which no substitute was available (in fact, all through the process, she offered to give me a refund for as much of my order as I liked.)

When I received my box, to my surprise, Laurie had still included bonuses equal to half my order! All the irises were labeled and she sent healthy firm rhizomes with good-looking roots. Correspondence with her was delightful, and I understand she is a regular GW contributor.
