What is the slope requirement for back yard?

I have a small backyard that recently adding a patio. As you can see from the picture, I feel the slope too steep, however, the contractor saying it is build according to the code. What is the code requirement for the slope? The patio is small 9 feet x 11 feet. Is the deep slope necessary?
