Dan Kiley--One of the Greats

ginny12

The paper today reported the death of Dan Kiley, one of the greatest landscape architects of the twentieth century. He was one of the small group in the 1930s to change the face of landscape architecture but supposedly got tossed out of Harvard's School of Design for the new approach he and others were promoting. He worked with the world's greatest architects and his work is everywhere in the US. His obituary is just starting to appear in newspapers--not in today's NYT, as far as I could see. Watch your local papers--it will be in every major newspaper--and read about his remarkable career. Just thought this group, with so many interested in landscape/garden history, would be interested. He was 91, so lived a long, full life.
