Back in the days when dirt was new(er), my brother & I both had a passion for gardening. Henry Field & Dan Gurney seed catalogs offered a 1-cent seed package deal for kids. Gosh, the things we didn't do trying to earn a penny. We had to do real chores (watering the hogs, cleaning the chicken house, pulling weeds in the fence row) like for a month!!! Mom would also give us each a few flower seeds. You can see the results in my link. He actually planted and grew this himself - 1953.
