Need Help with Small Front Yard-Old Brick House-1917-Pics

Would like to enlarge the beds in the front of the house. Give them some shape and add more plants in front of the foundation plantings. Would also like to soften the sidewalk. The yard is only about 20 feet deep. Need suggestions for plants and design. Any Thoughts? Thanks.

Had a great suggestion for putting a low fence across the front. Between the sidewalk and the hedges. Any thoughts on an appropriate style? Picket? Wrought Iron?

Just don't make the fence something that one could get hurt on falling on it.
What a charming place you have btw.

*Love* the house & what you have done so far.

I'd go with an iron fence.

The only thing I'm not crazy about are the round, evergreens in front.
