Mowing Daffodils after they have bloomed

Hello. I am in z6aTN and wonder when it is safe to mow daffodils afer they have bloomed. I have 80 year old bulbs in the ground which don't bloom well anymore. I have restored my great-grandparents home so now it is time for the garden. Any help will be appreciated. I have peonies, iris, crepe myrtle. One of the peonies was called "mikado" according to my late Aunt. Does anyone know about that variety?

If you dig up and divide the daffodils that don't bloom, you should get better results, as they are probably overcrowded. Don't mow down the foliage until it has turned yellow and fallen over on its own, as the leaves supply the bulbs with nutrients for next year's flowers.
