Hello,

In the top part of my garden I'm toying with the idea of putting a putting green (to while away the hours, and get rid of the kids) to get my golf better..because I definately need it.

My plan is to put about 2 inches of river washed sand with some small pebbles (pea size) mixed in on top of the existing soil, and to compress it down with the roller on my heavy old 1950's lawn mower. Then I was thinking of mixing some good quality top soil and finer sand with a ratio of about 1:5 and put another inch on and roll that...then finally lay about 1/2 an inch of nothing but more sieved sand down and sow my seed into that.

I know this will need a lot of watering to keep nice but here in the UK you get that for free from the clouds....constantly!!

What do you think, good/ bad/ terrible idea?
