If any of you have experience in historic garden restoration, what questions would I ask in selecting a garden restoration specialist? Any help would be appreciated!

Suggest you contact the very approachable William C, Welch at the Dept. of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M. He is a well known author and walking encyclopedia on Texas historic gardens. He is the best person to give you advice. You might get lucky and find him to be interested in your project.

I second that motion. You couldn't do better.
