You have a computer. You have internet access. The internet has Google.

It's really about that simple.

If the list has contemporary, possibly outdated, names, Google searches usually turn up more recent names. It's probably an old enough list to not include a lot of variety names. I just don't want to talk about 1920's chrysanthemums right now. Or 1930's annuals, that look like they will require a special trip to Cornell.

1) Dear Mad I do not need to go to Cornell (what ever that is) I have a listing of annuals, perenials, shrubs, tree, vines. vegetables, & herbs of the 1830 NOT 1930's I also have there current scientific name etc...... the herbs & vegies will be easer to fine (herilome garden forum etc) BUT the annuals. perennials, etc will be harder to locate & the tools of the period... a google search was of no help. IF you live in the central Illinois area & can offer any help NOT sarcasm then please ......

What an interesting project of national interest! Help is just an e-mail away by contacting Marilyn Barlow, owner of Select Seeds (easily found through Google). She is an authority on the subject and may be offering many of the seeds you are looking for. She should be your first contact.

Also, the suggestion to contact Cornell University is a good one. Google "NYS Agricultural Experiment Station" and locate the Director's name. It should be easily found so you can contact him. Make a phone call so you can discuss your 'wants'. This Experiment Station is a part of Cornell and known throughout the world for it's preservation of old plant varieties. I am certain they will want to help you with this project. They may be able to arrange for the loan of old farm tools, etc. from somewhere.
