I've used a composting approach similar to that, Amy.

At anothe home, a cattle ranch was not too far away and I could get all the manure and rainspoiled alfalfa that I cared to haul away beginning in late Winter. I would layer the "stuff" in square piles stretching nearly as tall as I am and leave them for 12 months.

During the Winter these square stacks would steam like factory chimneys as they melted the snow. By the following Spring, the piles were leaning at strange angles and filled with dark brown compost.

May we think of your blog as RMG 2 ? Do we have other RMG's with blogs . . . glogs?

Cool blog, Greenbean/Amy! I started mine for the same reason -- to be a garden journal to help me remember things, but I've found that others are interested in reading it, especially when it has photos. Mine isn't extremely busy, but I get about 600 visits a month, with a bit of a spike in the spring. Mostly, people find it in google searches when I've written about a topic that they're searching for info about.

Like my garden, this blog goes a little dormant in the winter! But it will pick up soon, when I plant some things in my greenhouse.

I put a counter on it yesterday so I might have a clue if anyone was reading. I was surprised to check tonight and see 30 visits! I did add the webpage to my new(ish) Facebook profile yesterday and I'm getting better at putting the link at the bottom of posts too.
