Greetings,
I garden in Pennsylvania and would like to try and germinate some seeds of Castillegia that I bought in Wyoming (the packet assures the seeds were not wild collected). The species is not identified, but I'm guessing it's C. linariaefolia, one of the species called Indian Paintbrush (and Wyoming's state flower).
I learned that Castillejas are partially parasitic on green plants, and it seems some species' preferred hosts have been identified. Can anyone provide information about the host plant for this Indian Paintbrush? No doubt I'm setting myself up for failure, but I'd like to give cultivating this beauty a try. Any other advice would also be appreciated.
I took my first trip to the Rockies last summer, and was knocked out by the geology and the flora. You are very lucky gardeners!
Thanks so much!
