Very likely pruning your grapes WILL "improve the plant greatly!" If youÂve ever seen pictures of grape vineyards, the vines are cut back to almost nothing every year. IÂm planning to (hoping to) put in a vine this year, so IÂve been doing some research. HereÂs a link to a site about pruning grapevines thatÂs written for us Real Folks! Many of the sites I found that have info for commercial growers use terminology we common folks may not understand (me, for sure), and make it all sound WAY too complicated! This site uses little words, and starts with old vines that havenÂt been "properly" pruned before!

And hereÂs a link to one of those BIG word sites! ItÂs a FAQÂs page for growing grapes, but I didnÂt think the pruning info was all that helpful based on my dearth of grape knowledge! But there does seem to be some good info about other topics that could come in handy in your (and my) grape growing endeavor! You definitely need to prune. There is a definite way to do it, and you should do it soon. The first link instructions are good. Prune yearly from now on.
