To allow this to slip away here's something, still OT.

When I first became interested in identifying birds it was because they surrounded me and I had no idea what they were! Some were quite inconsequential in appearance and song. Actually, my hearing wasn't very good then either so who am I to judge the songs?

The Ruby-crowned Kinglet seems to be just about everywhere in the Lodgepole Pine forest during the nesting season. I hadn't a clue what these tiny birds were!

Some birds, like the Townsend Solitaire, I'd infrequently see thru the trees and more often hear their oddly familiar song. It was Robin-like but, something different.

One common little fellow is the Pine Siskin. The male will hide in a small Ponderosa Pine, no taller than I am. There, he will sing and sing. I could walk entirely around the little tree and he would neither fly nor stop singing.

If you click on the photo of the Kinglet you can see a few of these birds. The song is entirely that of the Siskin. I couldn't figure out how to synchronize a collection of birdsongs with the pictures and I assembled quite a number of birdsongs, copied and recopied, saved and resaved. My computer is now full of twitters and tweets!! Never trust a near-deaf person to do something like this!
