Flea beetles. Yes, but has to be reapplied frequently. Row covers over the newly planted seeds can make a difference. Neem oil works but may need applied every 5-7 days. They multiply rapidly. They love tomato, potato, eggplant and cukes.

Flea beetles might spend most of their short lives as larva, in the soil, unseen, eating on the roots of their host plants, happily.

I don't know what to do about them down there. (I try not to let it bother me . . . too much.) I've learned, that they continue to play the game when they are adults. But, they just hide near the surface. Haha! Pyrethrin spray seems to be able to find them there and make short work of them!

I've tried the pyrothrin sprays and I didn't like the application frequency.

I'm not fussy about the lettuce roots. I want to protect the lettuce. The DM earth claims it will protect the plant and can be sprinkled around the plant to prevent insects from being able to crawl on the plant.

The soaps just don't last and lady bugs and preying mantises are a waste of money and can't keep up with a blossoming flea beetle population.

We'll see how it works.
