If your plants are adequately hardened off before you plant them outside, temperatures down to or slightly below freezing shouldn't be a problem. If it gets much colder than that, you could have some damage to the existing or budding foliage, but it would need to get really cold to damage the canes or other parts of the plants.

I have a blue girl i ordered that came over a week and a half ago, looks like they dug it up and wrapped in a straw and a plastic bag. I soaked the roots and have left it inside in front of the window. I wont plant out until mothers day. (Even thats iffy around here) I put out a flat of tomatos and basil seedlings, under glass in my raised bed. They all died. I have a bunch of perrenials I purchased, they are all staying in until mothers day.
