This saturday: free mulch in Denver.

Just wanted to alert/remind you that if you are a Denver resident you can get all the free mulch you want from the city at the city nursery at Havana and Smith Road. If you bring an open pick-up, they will front load it in, also free. (You have to cover the load.) Otherwise it's dig your own. Also very cheap compost. See you there!

I'm going to link the thread I posted a week ago here since it has a link to the City of Denver site with all the info. They're selling compost too.

To answer the question you asked on that thread, Azura, with our alkaline soils out here, using pine byproducts shouldn't cause any problems at all that I know of. I'm glad to get pine needles along with my neighbor's maple leaves in fall, 'cause I hope they might add just the tiniest little bit of acidity to the compost. I don't test anything, so I don't know for sure, but I doubt that the small quantity I get does much at all! And, yes, any mulch will help keep the weeds down somewhat. The thicker, the better!

RE: : free mulch in Denver.

When is the City Nursery at Havana and Smith open so I can fill my trunk with free mulch, or wood chips?
