Transplanting Strawberries

Hi all,
So I know I should cut runners off my strawberry plants to increase yields on each plant, but I'm confused about one thing. I saw an article online that mentioned cutting but a lot of the foliage, not just runners, but flowers and some leaves as well at the time you transplant them into their home soil. Is this true? If so, do I trim all flowers on it or just some? Will this actually cause more to grow in its place, like with some herb plants?

Thanks,
Meg
