When we stayed at a cabin in Montrose a couple of months ago, the owner had one on top of the kitchen cabinets as a decoration, LOL. I guess it was supposed to add to the rustic, out-West feel.

I've seen them sprayed white and used to build snowmen !
That was in New Mexico.

They used them for the Christmas tree at town hall for a few years and put lights on them. Rather pretty actually. Gotta have a sense of humor about it. :D

Here, they sort of come and go - some years, it's pretty funny with every chain link fence in town stacked 3 deep, and cars that were left a week buried at the airport parking lot. This year, I didn't see much. I sure get a bunch growing in my vegetable garden, though.

I say, trim as desired, paint one white, one red and one orange-red then set on display as "vegan" coral! "No polyps or zooxanthellae were hurt"

Or, trim as desired, paint light yellow or white and use as one of those easter displays for bunny and egg ornaments to hang from...

Well, if you get them before they dry out, they can actually be eaten. During the dustbowl days of the Great Depression, tumbleweeds (a.k.a. Russian thistle) were used as an emergency food to feed both livestock and humans alike.

Like Skybird said they sell on Ebay. I know a person who used to make trips to a city a few hundred miles from us and had a craft type store that would buy them. The problem is they are hard to ship or haul as they take up a lot of room. I had one this past fall over 5' in diameter and close to 4' tall. Jay

After considerable thought, I think the best thing to do with tumbleweeds is put on a ten gallon hat and a silk bandana and sing to them, strumming a guitar.

The only thing I have ever seen eat them was the roping steers we used to pick up at the Mexico border and bring up here. I made a trip down there and brought back a load. I had the bunks full of good hay with some alfalfa and also sweet feed. One of the buyers showed up just after I unloaded. We were commenting about them not eating much. The wind was blowing and some tumbleweeds blew over the fence. The stampede was on and they never made it to the other side. They just devoured them. Guess they weren't used to anything green but sure knew what a dead tumble weed was. Jay
