Kenny in Kersey Co., I'm still planning on setting tomatoes out tomorrow . . .

The thermometer made it up to 79° today and the Weather Service has now changed their prediction for the same high, tomorrow. Then the rains will come. By Thursday morning, they've still got the low down in the 30's.

The Weather Service underestimated the high for yesterday, which also came in at 79°. The fact that they have backed off on a quick drop in temperatures for tomorrow encourages me. The more heat the ground absorbs, the longer it will take for it to cool. I mean, we know it is freezing at 10,000 feet. It is the soil surface (and 18" above it) that I'm concerned about.

For those few varieties that I have only a couple of plants, I think I'll hold off on setting all of them out, holding on to 1 or 2 and leaving room for them in the garden. Still, I'd like to take advantage of the cloudy, rainy weather to do the transplanting. The peppers and eggplants can wait another week.

I can "re-plant" the dang tomato patch if I have to but it will end up half Early Girls and SunSugars! One is my favorite, anyway, the other is my fail-safe.
