I promised myself I would never again bring perennials home until I already had the space ready for them.

Well, I'm rather proud of myself because I walked into a nursery run by friends, chock full of perennials, high desert stuff, spend 45 minutes, and only bought the two 6-packs of petunias for the window boxes I'd set out to buy.

Thats a first.

And last weekend, I was in Albuquerque for 4 days for a soccer tournament, and managed to drive by the High Country Gardens extension, which they strategically placed near the entrance to the soccer complex, about 18 times without stopping.

How? You ask in amazement. binders and a choke chain
Steely self-discipline. Aided by knowing that I was already 2 weeks behind on planting existing stuff.

Jnfr, Dan and David, thanks for my first laugh of the day. I went to Walmart to pick up some mulch on Friday. Just mulch, only mulch!!!... and came home with a bleeding heart and 2 ice plants. I actually said out loud I thought we had enough trees now and my better half gave me that look! He said he'd been hearing that since before the last 8 trees we planted. He did run over one of the Rocky Mountain juniper seedlings with the lawn mower last week, so you can't blame me for having to replace it! I would need an electric shock collar most days. Maybe it's time to move on to planting.............shrubbery!

Oh, I have many plans for shrubbery, you bet.
