I just planted one I got from Skybird at the swap. I read they like some wind protection, so maybe that's the issue. I've never grown one before, so I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I picked a spot with a half day sun and some wind protection. I hope to never have to move it!
If you decide to move it, use gloves and a shovel. I would do my best to keep the rootball on the shovel and not have to touch it except for firming in the soil when you replant. It supposed to cool down a bit in the next few days, so you might consider it now or wait till fall.
