Hey folks,

Back Eddy here, how you doin'?

I've been gardening here on the Front Range of N. Colorado for a few years now, mainly playing catch up. My place is on top of a glacial deposit, so we don't have a ton of loamy soil - mainly rocks. I 'tilled a section, 10x48' and hauled away all of the rocks. Then I made several trips to Resource for used 2x12s and build two 4x48' rows of raised beds. A few trips to Pioneer and I was gardening.

Since then, I've built a 3 pile compost system (buying dirt gets expensive...) and have been making a go of it ever since.

I've had mixed results. Some really great carrot crops, some pretty decent results with beets and tomatoes. Also, I have had a few spectacular failures. I'm working to institute a sustainable rotation plan, as well as getting that compost heap working for me. Also - this year I am putting a few of those sections into "fallow" growing cover crops - Jerry's Sping Oats and Hairy Vetch, for now.

I hope to learn from your experiences, share my own, and generally be a part of the community.

Hello Back Eddy and welcome! Have you been lurking a while or did you just find us?

You just missed our Spring plant swap, but we'll have another in the fall. I's a fun way to get to know our members and swap some great plants.

With the work you've already done building raised beds and composting, it sounds like you'll be teaching us a few things as well as learning.

You may want to consider going to the member page and putting in your zone. You can also set it to receive emails from members, which has been handy and introduced me to some really good friends.

Hello and welcome! All those boulders, sounds like you have quite a job on your hands there. Not sure if that's better or worse than my bindweed :)

Welcome to RMG, Eddy! It's always great to have new faces showing up around here!

Where are you located? I had never heard of ReSource before so I googled it and see it's in Boulder and Ft. Collins--so I'm assuming you're up north of Denver somewhere! ReSource looks like a cool place to stop by some day! Thanks for mentioning it!

Do you do pretty much all veggies, or are you into perennials/annuals/trees/bushes too?
