I am taking 3 or 4 entire scapes, microwaving them a bit to get them hot, then into a whole wheat wrap with peanut butter.

That's going to be a snack for the kid tomorrow, David.

For the adult version, try adding a few drops of hot sauce.

They're very addictive. I dunno if we'll get to the pesto making stage, they may be all gone.

I just had one, and the scapes have gotten so tough that they need to be chopped first.

I've decided this is a sign that they're starting to harden up. I irrigated my garlic for one last time today, and this snack was the last handful of scapes.

So now we're onto pulling up a few immature bulbs to tide us through to July.

Mine are all coming out this week, still soft over on this side of the divide. Fam didn't care for the peanut butter snack, tho...

Dan and David,
I wanted to say thanks for the tips on the scapes. If not for you I wouldn't have known they needed to be removed to prevent the garlic from seeding.
I cooked some up in a stir last night and they were great!
I'll be adding them to meals for the next few days. Yum!

Made some Garlic Scape Salad Dressing tonight to go with salad from the garden. No one but me would eat it : ( I made everyone taste a tiny bite, but kind of knew what the kids reaction would be. The recipe called for honey, and a tablespoon of dijon mustard, which I think DH didn't care for. May try it next year with just oil and vinegar. I thought it tasted fine though, but I'm the least picky one in the house.
