That's the larva of a Coleopteran, perhaps Popillia japonica, Japanese beetle, but looks like something in the molting got interrupted and ID problematic without head features. Usu. grubs like these are bad for ornamental gardens as the adults eat flowers and soft parts.

certainly a beetle larvae..... but also most assuredly NOT a japanese beetle as dsieber pointed out... size alone precludes that ID. Remember that beetles are widespread and extremely numerous . And most beetles are not detrimental to your home garden...

Looks like chicken food, that's what I do with them when I find them. It's like caviar to the girls.

I have a dish where I leave such things for the birds. They always find anything in there very quickly.

Great bate should you be planning a fishing trip! We have used them for this purpose with huge success. They transport well, stay on a hook in a stream and the brook trout loved them.
