I don't need any more, but I do have a question you might be able to answer. My parents brought me a bunch of day lillies, and we planted them around a tree in our back yard about 5-6 weeks ago. For some reason they still haven't perked up though, and most of them are pretty limp looking. They're still green so I don't think they're dead, but I'm surprised they haven't really sprung to life. Any ideas - think they might recover yet? Maybe they need some good hot days? We did probably wait too long before getting them in the ground, as they were out for two days, though we kept them watered.

I would love to have some, but I live too far away :-(

Jeremy, day lillies grow from a tuber/corm or what ever the botanical term is, and theoretically should be planted when they're dormant, with no foliage. They then come up the next spring. So they aren't going to look all that great, this year, and the foliage may well just die off. But they'll be fine, next year.

I do that with daffodils and tulips, because if I wait until they're dormant, I forget - I forget where they are, I forget where I wanted to put them, I forget where other early spring stuff is, since it all is dormant.

I don't think I lose out on all that much.

Daylillies are tough. They'll come back. If they didn't come with a lot of roots you may want to trim the foliage a little. There may be too much foliage for the current roots. They also need sun. The tree may provide too much shade.

What type of lillies do you have. I would be interested, Im in westminster, but I wouldnt be able to come till next week. Let me know.
