Fantastic from seed.... Amazing. Very deep colour.

The single blossom in the first pic showed up when I was dividing/transplanting the double blossom variety 5 or 6 years ago, so I suspect it reverted back to the single-bloom original. Certainly a vigorous plant.

I usually don't dead-head or trim any of them back in the winter. With this single bloom, where the stems fall over and the seed heads touch the ground, there are new baby peonies starting up.

This year, I'll collect seeds and see if I can grow them out. Reversing years of dedicated flower breeding and selection - charging backwards to the wild variety. I'll start up a snobbish cult :-).
