Climbing Hydrangeas

I read somewhere that climbing hydrangeas do well in Colorado. I had planted some that were pretty lackluster. I didn't take care of them very well the first year or two but after that I tried and still not much to speak of.

I saw one at the nursery (it was not for sale but growing) and it look far better then mine, but still not what I would expect.

I need a vine that will grow in the shade (for the deck posts on the North side). I'd like to have something that flowers too. Please let me know how your climbing hydrangea does in Colorado. If you have another flowering vine that likes the shade I'm all ears.
