I'm not sure about the extra water in the soil, I'm sure someone else will post about that.

But...

Did you check the "days to maturity" for your particular tomatoes and have you been timing them? If they have a longer "dtm" then they might not be ready to ripen yet.

Check the name of the tomato online and see what the "dtm" is. That should give you an idea of when to expect repening.

Generally speaking, in Colorado it's pretty rare to get a ripe tomato much before August, if you're just planting them outside in the ground. You can get some by container growing, the soil heats up faster, or growing them inside, but I don't expect a ripe outside tomato for at least two weeks. Cherry tomatoes are quicker, of course.

This year has been difficult for a variety of reasons, all that cool June weather. At least now, here, its getting hot.
