I have heard contradictory information regarding tubes placed in the ground when planting new trees. It seems to make sense in that water could then get to the bottom of the root ball easily. Contradictory views are that this will erode the soil under the root ball and cause the tree to ultimately collapse. But where would that soil go? If this is viable, it would also make sense to poke some holes along the 4 foot tube, maybe about 8 to 12 inches apart for water to pass thru at intermittant levels.
Does anyone have any experience with this, or advice?
