Never too late to plant daylilies, Shady! (Most perennials can be planted anytime the ground isn't frozen--tho conditions at some times of the year can make it harder for them.) The problem might be, since you've been storing them for several months, that the roots could possibly be too desiccated for them to grow anymore. If you had them stored in the fridge you might be ok. The "fleshy roots," like a tuber, should have some "body" to them! Google a pic if you're not sure. So check them out and if they look ok I'd say go ahead and plant them and water them in well. Since there's no foliage the heat shouldn't be a problem in this case.

Even if they're somewhat dehydrated, as long as they're not completely dried out you may as well plant them and see what happens since you already have them and have nothing to lose!

Here is a pic of the daylily bulbs. I'm pretty sure they are too dessicated to grow, but I still would appreciate your opinion.
