Mimosa Trees in Colorado

We've been eyeing a beautiful Mimosa tree at the Denver Botanical Gardens.

When we look for information on the web, it says Zone 6 and prefers acid soil.

Though the gardens are beautiful, I find that any particular plant is often more beautiful in other yards. We're tempted to plant it being that it clearly has been growing in zone 5. What's your take on this?

Aloha,

Call DBT and see if they can track down who takes care of it. They do manage to grow some borderline stuff there in microclimates. The trick will be recreating the microclimate they have it in. You may find out they overwinter it somewhere else. It's supposed to be hardy in zones 6-10.
