So this past week we have been enjoying dinner outside, with potatoes 'Red Pontiac' out of the garden, herbed with garden herbs, and veggies from the garden including tomato salad with basil and vinaigrette.

As night falls, two fledgling great horned owls have been hooting, one on our house, the other nearby. The other evening the BH watched one owl swoop from a streetlight toward a purse dog being walked by an unsuspecting neighbor, and the dog was only saved by much shrieking and arm-waving. The second-grader apparently has been telling folks of all the food, as she wants extra carrots in her lunch...

I believe it was James who said the best two words in the English language are 'summer afternoon'.
