4 years ago I planted monkshood on the north side of the shed. It gets a bit of sun, but is mostly in the shade. And, it does get regular watering.
In previous years, the monkshood has gradually grown taller, and bloomed beautifully in October. Last year, the plants were between 3-4 feet tall.
This year, the 2 monkshood plants are 6 feet, and still growing. Is this normal? Of course, the plastic plant description that I stuck in the ground when I planted, is long gone.
What can you tell me about monkshood? I'm the only one growing it, so I have no one else to ask. And, since it provides the perfect spot of blue color in the fall in the back of the garden, I'd like to keep growing it. I could swear I selected the plants from the perennial section in the local nursery...I don't buy or plant annuals (other than herbs & tomatoes.
The height, and dramatic growth this year, do have me a bit concerned. Leaves are healthy, plant looks healthy. It just looks TALL.
Thanks in advance.
